A Woman of Prayer : 15.05.2011

Eventho' Mother's Day is celebrated on 8 May 2011, Miri Women Fellowship from St' Columba Church celebrated Mother's Day at Dynasty Hotel on Sunday night. Church members from Lambir, Tmn Tunku, Women Chinese Community Fellowship and Serakup Indu ari gereja Mamut came to dine and performed. What touches me was the speech by Rev. Alfred Damu, remind all mothers to follow the footsteps of the three women in the bible ie. Sarah, Hannah and Mother Mary. Sarah was known as a faithful wife who follows her husband Abraham where ever he goes and at the same time faithfully serve the Lord. The second woman Hannah was a "woman of patience" who did not have a child for a very long time, after so many years waiting, finally God gave her a son, named Samuel then one day God took back Samuel from her and she obediently gave him to God being a loyal servant to God. The third woman, is no other than the mother of our Lord Jesus, Mother Mary a woman of Grace...She has been chosen by God to be the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ...

He stressed that a mother or wife's role is so huge ie. she takes care of her husband, children needs and home affairs (cooking, washing, safety and finance); ensure that her children have good education besides remain faithful, loving and support her husband in good and bad times; and showing respect to her husband being the head of the family. A husband or father's role is simpler, he's known as "Provider" for his family that is he needs to be hardworking in order to give his family a good life.. though it sounds simple but father's responsibility is considered "heavy".

Last message from Rev. Alfred; a good reminder to me...Mothers must be a "Woman of Prayer", because husband, children and loved ones need the prayer of a mother/wife. Mother/Wife should have the qualities of Sarah, Hannah, Mother Mary and not forgetting Elizabeth the mother of John the Baptist in the bible. Happy Mother's Day to all mothers out there... Thank God for his many blessings on me and my loved ones. God bless us All.
