Serakup Indu Dayak S'wak Pre-Gawai Dinner - 1st May 2010

1st May is a Labour Day, this year Miri City celebrated it's Green Day where most shopping malls are promoting non-plastic day from Friday till Sunday. Many participate that event in the day. That same day SIDS Miri Division celebrates Pre-Gawai Dinner at Grand Palace Hotel, very good crowd, tables were full with guests; very entertaining night especially when it's the lively DJ RTM Mdm Mary Bajang who was the MC and had made the event a night full with laughter, "Bejoget" all night long, singing; I believe everyone must have enjoyed themselves. The organising chairlady for this year pre-gawai dayak dinner was Mdm Magdeline Mendun. Patron for the pre-gawai dinner thsi year was YB Senator Doris Brodie and Guest of Honor was YB Aidan Wing (unfortunately, he could not make it as he has other function to attend).

As usual photos taken, this time it was taken by my new Sony Cybershot Dsc-wx1 camera a gift from my "suluati", thank you my dear "sulu" for the "mother's day gift".. Love ya forever more. Laban ke agik baru, bedau pass ngachit ke kamiha, so my good friend Betty @ mamashabella and my daughter Chill took most of the photos that night. To welcome the Patron for the Pre-Gawai Dinner was two lovely young ladies "ngajat" on the stage..then followed by Organising Chairlady's speech, Mrs Paul Kelanang grace our dinner before we begun our dinner with words of prayers.

Best Student Achievements Award (a certificate from SIDS and cash) was given to straight A's who sat for UPSR, PMR and SPM in 2009; my daughter (Chill) was one of the recipient of PMR as she had scored straight A's in her PMR exam last year. Hopefully, she will continue to do well in her SPM.

Awards to best parents whose children had obtained degree in a family were also given a certificate of appreciation by this token SIDS, Miri Division hopes that more parents will be able to bring up and encourage their children to take education serioulsy in order to have better life especially in their career undertakings. One special Award was given to student who participated actively in School's extra-curiculum and the award was given to Mary Bajang fav's grand-daughter.

That nite, Pekit Belagu for Indai Orang. These are the faces of Indai Orang who won the Pekit Belagu. 3rd place Mdm Roseline Minggat (Mrs Donny Tambab) who sang "Duruk Pengerindu" by Stella Philip, 2nd place Mdm Betty Pan (Mrs Albert Chawong) who sang "Beperang Dalam Petang" (the same nite Winnie Albert won as the best singer and best song of 2009 at AJAR held in Kuching), not bad my friend Betty, endO siOx2 ga aku ngasuh iyO belagu malam nyO. 1st place won by SIDS working committee member who organised the pre-gawai dinner 2010, Mdm Margaret Benet (Mrs Joshua Denis) who sang "Chelap Angat" by Margaret M Jalang. She's well-known to be "the popular singer" for SIDS Miri Divison. It's not surprise for her to win the Competition.

Bejuget all nite long we were entertained by sponsored singers ie. YB Senator Doris Brodie, Mdm Karina Dundang, few Tuai Rumah from Sibuti, Niah area who attended the dinner also gave us few numbers. There were 12 Lucky Draws given that night if I'm not mistaken..

The pre-gawai dinner ended with the cutting of Happy Mother's Day Cake, all mothers and grandmothers were called to the stage to cut the cake... and Selamat Gawai Dayak song as was sang as a toast to end the event. The programme ends 12 mid-night.

Dearest wai Jenny Jeli... I must say it was a well done job by your SIDS committee members who are very supportive with each other,a good teamwork I must say and thumbs up for the Organising Chairlady who has made it a night of success. Uniform pun cantik... hope to see you ppl next year... Love from iEg.
